On Saturday, 29 October 2022, the Ahmanson Gallery celebrated the opening of its newest exhibition, Making A Mark: Abstraction in the Ahmanson Collection, curated by John Silvis.
The event began in the afternoon with a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Jonathan Anderson, (PhD, King’s College London), an artist, art critic, and postdoctoral associate of theology and the visual arts at Duke University. The panelists included Carl Berg, gallery director and curator; Jennifer Gross, modern and contemporary art curator and scholar; Linnéa Spransy Neuss, artist; and Christine Turner, artist.
The opening reception was preceded by a poetry and music performance by former California Poet Laureate and director of the National Endowment for the arts, Dana Gioia, and jazz pianist, Helen Sung.
